The container terminal has been providing service to the largest shipping companies and alliances with an infrastructure appropriate to serve the biggest container ships in the world.
Since 2019, the port exceeds the total throughput of 5 million TEU annually and maintains the leading position in the Mediterranean Sea. The ranking of the Piraeus port among the global container ports rose from 93rd in 2009 to 29th in 2021.

Investment of Herakleous Pier Car Terminal Extension at Keratsini
Based on the project plan, the existing pier will be extended by 35 acres transforming into a new area measuring 1.100 platform width, along with a functioning depth of 12.00 meters and a total surface of 110 thousand square meters. In addition, the project involves the improvement and upgrade of the existing port facilities and computer electronics. The new investment will strengthen the competitiveness of the Car Terminal at Port of Piraeus through the creation of 5.400 new car park positions.
Logistics service: A Free Zone at the heart of 3 continents
The Type I Free Zone area and the 80,000 ㎡ logistics campus in the Port of Piraeus, with its modern facilities, provide integrated logistics services and offers spaces of different specifications that enable the handling of general and dry cargo, refrigerated products, as well as flammable and chemical materials.
The Piraeus Port Authority to serve the general cargo goods transported by truck T.I.R. lorries, as well as those moving to containers, but also train wagons, special features Terminal with warehouse complex at Keratsini of Piraeus (former ODDY area).
The PPA warehouses complex located within the fenced land area of 86.402 m2 with a perimeter of 1.157 m. at Keratsini of Piraeus (former ODDY area) and consists of:
• Warehouse C-3 (imported goods), which has a covered space of 5,480 sq.m.
• Warehouse C-5 (imported goods), which has a covered space of 2,250 sq.m.
• Warehouse C-8 (unclaimed goods, which has a covered space of 1,645 sq.m.
• the Export Warehouse, which has a covered space of 162 sq.m.
The new PPA’s administration has already programmed the creation of a modern Logistics Warehouse of 47.500 sq.m.

Ship Repair Activity: The Eastern Mediterranean Ship Repair Solution
Location, infrastructure, know-how, cost efficiency and reliability are the primary factors for choosing the Ship Repair Zone of the Piraeus port. Besides the newly invested floating dock named “Piraeus III” with 80,000 tons of capacity, the Port of Piraeus is continually investing and upgrading the infrastructure and equipment to further develop the ship repair capability and pursuit the revitalization of the ship repair industry in Greece.

The new quay wall has approximately 1,510.00m length and a variable depth of -19.00 to -29.50 m. The building of two (2) completely safe berths is provided, one of 390.00m length and one of 350.00m., respectively.

COSCO SHIPPING creates a new modern Playground Park and a bike lane for the Municipality of Piraeus. PPA S.A. as an actively participating company in the local community, taking seriously its Corporate Social Responsibility, is constructing a new modern playground park and a bike lane inside the port zone at the cruise terminal area, which will be available for all the citizens to visit and enjoy its recreational spaces.
The construction cost will be covered by Piraeus Port Authority. More specifically, PPA will transform an area of 8,000 sq. m. (without including the additional parking area) of the cruise terminal to an open space and modern playground park based on high environmental and security standards, which will meet the needs of the citizens of the surrounding area.
